Mass timber RESEARCH | DESIGN
Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) is a sustainable, sturdy, and attractive structural material becoming a popular choice among designers, developers, and owners. I first discovered CLT while in my masters program at the University of Kansas | School of Architecture, Design, and Urban Planning. From there, I've grown in knowledge/practice while being a part of teams that have actively pursued this structural material on several buildings.
CLT - The building material
Cross laminated timber (CLT) is an engineered wood building system designed to complement light- and heavy-timber framing options. Because of its high strength and dimensional stability, it can be used as alternative to concrete, masonry and steel in many building types. - WoodWorks

Assembly research
Precedent studies have been a major influence towards understanding the details and systems integration with CLT. Partnerships with manufacturers around the globe, structural engineers, City planners & code reviewers will all be key in brining this material to the United States on a larger scale.
